Brent King to speak to Miramar's Administration of Justice students

September 16, 2016
San Diego Miramar College

Brent King, the father of Chelsea King, will address Administration of Justice students at San Diego Miramar College on Friday, Sept. 23 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

King will visit campus to discuss the impact of Chelsea’s Law and the current state of sexual assault legislation. He will lead a 90-minute discussion in L-105 inside the Library Learning Resource Center (LLRC). The event is free and open to the public.

Chelsea King, a 17-year old Poway High School student, was murdered Feb. 25, 2010 after setting out for a run near Lake Hodges. Her killer was a convicted sex offender. As a result, King helped author legislation that would strengthen sentencing laws for sex offenses and provide more oversight for offenders on parole. According to King, since its passage in Sept. of 2010, more than 600 people have been convicted under Chelsea’s Law in California.
