Most full-time
faculty and staff can receive Internet e-mail through the district.
Internet e-mail addresses at the SDCCD follow these conventions:
The first part
of the address is the person's first initial followed (no space)
by the first seven letters of the last name. If the person's last
name is less than seven characters long, then his/her address will
contain all of the letters.
For example,
BrianStevenson's address will begin "bstevens" and Brian
Smith's will be "bsmith".
The rest of
the address is always "@sdccd.edu".
Do not try to insert the name of the college or center.
William
vs. Bill / Robert vs. Bob / Elizabeth vs. Betty
There is no strict rule about how formal name vs. nickname is handled
when the two names start with different letters of the alphabet.
Usually, the address reflects what the person prefers to be called
in day-to-day business. So "Robert Miller" will be "rmiller@sdccd.edu".
However, if this person goes by "Bob," his address is
likely to be "bmiller@sdccd.edu".
E-mail addresses
are not case-sensititve.
A message sent
to a nonexistent address will be bounced back to the sender. Then
you can try the alternate address choice.
If all else
fails, you can ask the district
information Operator to help find the correct address.
