The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) has accepted San Diego Miramar College’s candidacy for ACBSP accreditation of business degree programs offered through its business department.

As a candidate for ACBSP accreditation, Miramar College will be assigned a mentor to help guide the college through the accreditation process. The college will be required to prepare a self-study of the current business program. Peer evaluators will then follow up with a site visit. The ACBSP Associate Degree Board of Commission will grant final approval of accreditation.

“We are delighted to have San Diego Miramar College as a candidate for ACBSP accreditation,” said Dr. Steve Parscale, chief accreditation officer for ACBSP. “The fact that Miramar College is pursuing ACBSP accreditation shows their commitment to providing the highest quality business education for their students.”

Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business programs offered through the San Diego Miramar College Business Department meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.

“San Diego Miramar College is pleased to be affiliated as a member college of ACBSP as they represent the gold standard in measuring the quality of business education at two-year colleges,” said David Wilhelm, assistant professor of Business at San Diego Miramar College. “We look forward to strengthening our partnership with ACBSP as we begin the evaluation process toward becoming a nationally accredited program in business.” San Diego Miramar College offers more than twenty-one certificates, associate degrees and transfer programs in business or business-related fields of study and the college serves more than 14,700 students of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds each semester.
