Innovative Outreach CD

The League for Innovation in the Community College each year singles out faculty and staff in each member district who have made an unusual contribution to receive the “Innovation of the Year” award.

Miramar College’s “Why Miramar?” business card-size CD, developed by Sandra Trevisan, information officer, and Bob Garber, vice president for Student Services, has been selected as the district’s “Innovation of the Year” for 2000.

The unique CD, the first of its kind ever to be developed by an educational institution, is one element of a coordinated, comprehensive marketing campaign, “Why Miramar?,” targeting high school seniors. The multimedia CD combines virtually every recruitment publication into a single piece, offering the user, through audio, video and web access, an interactive college viewbook.

Included in the CD content is information on program offerings, alumni testimonials, transfer information, downloadable admissions information and the college catalog. Additionally, the college website can be launched directly from the CD if the user has Internet connectivity to access the college’s newest information and online class schedule.

Each innovation will receive an award plaque and will be featured in a special issue of Innovator, the organization’s official newsletter.
