Apply for the Promise
Through San Diego Promise, you will be encouraged in your academic achievement, social integration, and personal success through financial assistance and a strong support network of peers, staff, and faculty.
Benefits of the Promise

- Enrolled, earned, attempted, or have ANY postsecondary experience.
- Previously earned a degree or certificate from a postsecondary educational institution.
- Previously admitted or enrolled in the San Diego Promise at the San Diego Community College District.
Exceptions
Students who earned or attempted any college credits or received any postsecondary awards before graduation from High School or high school equivalency competition would still be eligible for The San Diego Promise Program.Requirements for being admitted to the Promise Program
If a student meets one of the three San Diego Promise Pathways, Eligible students must have the following:
- High school diploma or High School Equivalency with completion year and received.
- Classified as a California Resident by the San Diego Community College District.
- Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a California Dream Act application (CADA) and be received by the San Diego Community College District.
- Enroll in 12 or more semester units for the Fall 2024 Semester at the San Diego Community College District.
Students may also also be eligible San Diego Community College District Disability Support Programs and Services Waiver of Full-Time Status Requirement for Student Success Programs to reduce the amount of units required for full-time status.
How to Access Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS)Requirements for current promise students
- Complete a financial aid application (Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) or CA Dream Act
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 units each semester (does not apply to students with disability DSPS* accommodation on file)
Please Note: The San Diego Community College District will use student information to determine students’ San Diego Promise Program eligibility. If any information provided at any time disqualifies students from the promise program, students will be liable for payment of all mandatory charges from which they were exempted.

Create a Jira Account and Apply to the San Diego Promise!
Promise Application Tip: You must have your SDCCD 10-digit student ID number.
Before getting started, you should create a Jira Account for updates!
4. Complete online New Student Orientation at San Diego City, Mesa, Or Miramar College.
Create an Abbreviated Educational Planning Session with a Counselor at San Diego City, Mesa, Or Miramar College.
Meet with a City College Counselor
Enroll in 12 units or your full-time equivalency for the Fall 2024 semester.
Check your my.sdccd student portal for your registration date and time.
Visit my.sdccd student portal if it is your first time logging in.
Students may also complete a “Disability Support Programs and Services Waiver of Full-Time Status Requirement for Student Success Programs” indicating the advised amount of units considered full-time for the San Diego Promise. Students must apply to the college, and begin the process of becoming a Disability Support Programs and Services Student.
