Project Progress Update
Ground up construction of new 283 unit (797 bed) Student Housing Project. Project also includes ground floor amenity space, and a 7th floor meeting space.
Upcoming Milestones:
- Projected depressed slab start: 4/6
- Projected Modular Wetlands tank start: 4/6
- Domestic water, fire & irrigation tie-in: 4/13—5/1
- Student Move In Start: Summer 2028
Project Features
The San Diego City College Affordable Student Housing project is a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between SDCCD and The Michaels Organization, which constructs a new 283-unit (797-bed) residential complex. The housing units include:
- Studio Apartments
- Two-bedroom Apartments
- Four-bedroom apartments
- Four-bedroom suite-style units
Ground-level amenities will feature:
- Leasing lobby
- Conference room
- Mental health and wellness center
- Basic needs food pantry
- Resident and bike storage (including e-bikes)
- Event space with support kitchen
- Shared laundry facilities
Additional features include:
- Seventh floor meeting room spaces
- Two interior courtyards, outdoor seating, study areas, flexible gathering spaces, exterior video for events
- Mainspring Energy generator that will provide secondary electrical feed to the complex
