Project Progress Update
Shatter-resistant glass film installation was completed in August 2026, and classroom improvements, including mobile whiteboards and protective padding field verification, were completed in September 2026. Bid document development began in late September 2026 and the project team is advancing procurement and construction preparation activities.
Upcoming Milestones:
- Protective padding fabrication anticipated through Fall 2026, with delivery expected in November 2026.
- Bid document preparation anticipated for completion by the end of October 2026.
- Bidding anticipated in conjunction with the Outdoor Athletics project.
Project Features
The San Diego City College Harry West Gym HVAC Project includes the installation of a new HVAC system to serve the currently unconditioned gymnasium. Other project features include:
- Evaluation of the existing mechanical equipment to determine replacement needs
- New roofing
- New fire alarm and intrusion alarm systems
- Structural and accessibility upgrades to ensure compliance with current code requirements
