Mark joined Facilities Services in 2002 as an HVAC Mechanic to aid the maintenance and upkeep of cooling and heating equipment districtwide. In 2010, Mark promoted to Planner Scheduler and eventually to Senior Planner Scheduler – Energy Projects. He managed California’s Proposition 39 initiative for the District by applying millions of dollars in state funds to upgrade lighting to LED and replace HVAC equipment to improve energy efficiency.

Recently, Mark has been managing capitol improvement projects, such as renovations or alterations to offices and classrooms. Marks has also spearheaded major state-funded maintenance projects to replace mechanical and other equipment that has exceeded its full life’s potential.

During the holiday break in December 2022, the Learning Resource Center at San Diego Mesa College suffered a major leak on the roof that flooded all four floors. Fortunately, Mark was on site managing a project at the time and discovered it. He took the initiative and organized multiple vendors to remediate the flooding as well as returning the LRC to a functional clean building before staff and students reconvened. Mark displayed his motivation and teamwork to meet the goals and mission for Facilities Services and provide for the community that utilize our spaces.
