Community College AlumniFest: A ticket to celebrate

March 1, 2016 | San Diego Community College District

If you’re one of the vast numbers of community college alum in San Diego and Imperial counties, mark your calendar for an event tailor-made for you: the first-ever Community College AlumniFest set for Friday, March 11, featuring Gulls hockey and a pre-game bash for just $10.

Even if you took just a single class, you’re a community college alum in our book, so join this celebration at Valley View Casino Center, 3500 Sports Arena Blvd., San Diego.

Have fun connecting with your community college friends at a pre-game party at 5 p.m. in the north entry parking lot that will feature giveaways and prizes, including a chance to ride on a Zamboni, face-painting, balloon artists, mascots, and more. Salt + Lime, a food truck featuring modern Mexican cuisine will roll into the parking lot, selling food like tostadas with marinated ahi tuna and wontons, and build-your-own chicken, shrimp or steak bowls.

Feel free to bring along the kids and family, friends, co-workers -- everyone is welcome!

The pre-game party, replete with a red-carpet photo op and goodie bags for the first 1,000 to check in, is free. Admission to the 7:05 p.m. hockey game is $10 – nearly half the cost of a regular game.

AlumniFest is hosted by California Coast Credit Union and the San Diego Gulls Hockey Club and is made possible with the support of additional sponsors, including Wendy’s, AlphaGraphics and iHeartMedia.

“This is a great way for people to show their pride and support of the community colleges in our region that have opened opportunities and changed the lives of so many,” said John Valencia, CEO of the Foundation for Grossmont & Cuyamaca Colleges.

The community colleges in San Diego County are: City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges, along with San Diego Continuing Education, of the San Diego Community College District; Grossmont and Cuyamaca colleges in East County; Southwestern College in South County; and MiraCosta and Palomar colleges in North County. Imperial Valley College is in Imperial County.
