Mesa College Olympians take on Southwestern College for Conference Championship on Nov. 11

November 8, 2017 | San Diego Mesa College

On Saturday November 11, the San Diego Mesa College Olympians (8-1, 4-0 in conference) will face Southwestern College (7-2, 4-0 in conference) for the American Mountain League Conference Championship. Both teams are currently undefeated in the conference. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff at Mesa College Merrill Douglas Stadium.

“This is an incredibly exciting match-up for Mesa College,” stated Head Coach Peter Lofthouse. “The Olympians have had an exceptional season, and performed exceedingly well. We hope to see the entire community come out to support our local team – I promise that you won’t be disappointed.”

The San Diego Mesa College Football team has not won a conference championship since 2008, and it has been nearly 30 years since the team has achieved eight wins in a season.  The Olympians hope to acquire their 9th win on Saturday against Southwestern, which would put them in the American Conference Bowl Championship Game. The Championship Bowl game is tentatively scheduled for either November 18 or November 25.

Tickets cost $7 for adults, $5 for students, faculty and staff, and $2 for children under 12. A concessions/snack bar is available for the purchase of food, candy and drinks. All concession stands are operated by Mesa College student-athletes as fundraisers for various sports programs.
