College to participate in the White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge
June 11, 2021 |
The White House and the U.S. Department of Education have invited colleges across the country to join the efforts to end the pandemic by signing up for the COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge.
San Diego Mesa College has joined the White House Challenge, to host a series of vaccinations stations on campus in June and July of 2021, some of which will be in conjunction with the County of San Diego. Appointments and walk-ins (no appointment needed) will be available on specific dates, for students, faculty, staff and members of the community. The vaccines are available at no cost to everyone age 12 and older, regardless of immigration or insurance status.
“We are taking this Challenge to keep every student, faculty, and staff safe, along with members of the larger Mesa College community,” stated Mesa College President Pamela Luster.
Appointments in late June and July will be in conjunction with the White House initiative and the Federal Pharmacy Partnership Program. This effort builds on the program announced by the President Biden on May 11th that matches certain high-enrollment community colleges with partners in the federal pharmacy program to provide vaccination opportunities to students and their communities. July appointments will provide the Pfizer vaccine, necessitating a second appointment for participants.
