Tax-Sheltered Retirement Plans (403(b) & 457(b))
All employees may enroll in the following tax-advantaged retirement savings plans to supplement their CalSTRS, CalPERS pension or the FICA Alternative Plan.
403(b) Tax-Sheltered Annuity (TSA)
A 403(b) is a retirement savings plan authorized by the IRS that allows you to save for retirement through convenient payroll deductions. Since your CalSTRS or CalPERS pension or savings plan may replace only a portion of your pre-retirement income, a 403(b) can help you build additional retirement savings to bridge the gap.
The Fringe Benefits Consortium (FBC) Deferred Compensation Program offers 403(b) plans designed specifically to help educators grow their retirement savings and achieve their long-term financial goals.
Available contribution options:
- 403(b) (Traditional): Pre-tax contributions
- 403(b) (Roth): After-tax (Roth) contributions
457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP)
A 457(b) is an IRS-authorized deferred compensation plan that allows eligible employees to save additional money for retirement through payroll deductions. Like the 403(b), it is designed to supplement your CalSTRS or CalPERS pension and help you prepare for retirement.
Available contribution options:
- 457(b) (Traditional): Pre-tax contributions
- 457(b) (Roth): After-tax (Roth) contributions
