Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

City College:

  1. Affordable Student Housing: A signage, branding, and interiors review meeting with campus leadership was held on Jul. 6.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: A hazardous materials survey was held from Jul. 6–9. A design review meeting with President Shabazz was held on Jul. 9.
  1. Saville Theatre Renovation: A renovation fault-line investigation pre-construction meeting was held on Jul. 10.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) continued development of the 100% Schematic Design (SD) deliverable for the PAC building, which is due in mid-July. A draft 100% SD cost estimate was received and reviewed during the week of Jul. 6. A final floor plan review with the dance group was held on Jul. 8, followed by an access control markup and scope review meeting on Jul. 10.
  1. Athletics Complex: The DBE worked on the 100% SD deliverable due in mid-July. The preliminary logistics plan was reviewed by the district during the week of Jul. 6. A hazardous material survey report was submitted on Jul. 10.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The DBE and district design team continued to review comments from the Division of the State Architect (DSA) in preparation for resubmission.
  1. Gym Floor: A back punch walk, a follow-up inspection to verify completion of punch list items, was held on Jul. 9 to review remaining items and support final project closeout.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Early Education Center: The district reviewed the Increment 1 50% Construction Documents (CD) deliverable during the week of Jul. 6.
  1. Re-Roofing at Business & Math (M), Arts & Humanities (H), and College Police (T1) Buildings: Construction began on Jul. 6, and work will continue throughout the summer.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE met with the district facilities team to conduct a page-turn review of the 100% Design Development (DD) deliverable on Jul. 7.
  1. Hardscape Improvements: Precision Concrete Cutting began grinding uneven sidewalks throughout the campus on Jul. 7.
  1. Police Academy A-2 Shotcrete Wall Assessment / Police Deck Landing Pedestrian Bridge: The 60% SD set was submitted on Jul. 10.
  1. Diesel Technology Mechanical Rooftop Unit (RTU) Replacement (C-1) Building: The 90% CDs from Shadpour Consulting were submitted on Jul. 9.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The DBE revised the design to reflect the preferred exterior rendering and incorporate campus leadership’s comments in preparation for resubmittal.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A programming focus group meeting with Student Support Services was held on Jul. 7. A meeting with DSA to discuss the foundation incremental submittal was held on Jul. 8, along with programming focus group meetings with Nursing and Business Information Technology (BIT). A programming focus group meeting with Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS) and Emeritus was held on Jul. 9.
  1. West City Expansion: An SD stakeholder meeting was held on Jul. 8.

  1. Design Center Improvements: Development of bid documents, including logistics and phasing plans, will continue during the week of Jul. 13.
  1. Athletics Complex: A potholing and sewer camera inspection pre-construction meeting is scheduled for Jul. 14.
  1. Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure: A fourth SD workshop is scheduled for Jul. 15–16 with all 10 stakeholder groups.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gate Replacement (PS-100) Building: The final addendum is scheduled to be issued by Jul. 17.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Emergency Generator Replacement: The final addendum is scheduled to be issued by Jul. 17.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE will submit the 100% SD deliverable for district review during the week of Jul. 13.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE will submit the 100% DD deliverable for district review during the week of Jul. 13.
  1. Parking Structure (G3 and G4) Garage Overhead Door Replacement: The final addendum is scheduled to be issued by Jul. 17.
  1. Mechanical Upgrades at Science (S6) Building: The project is scheduled for consideration at the Jul. 16 Board of Trustees meeting, with a recommendation to award the contract to Able Heating and Air Conditioning.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: Focus group meetings are scheduled as follows: Culinary Arts on Jul. 13, followed by Student Support Services on Jul. 14. A design pull planning workshop is scheduled for Jul. 16.
  1. CE Harbor View Parking Garage Doors & Gate Replacement: The final addendum is scheduled to be issued by Jul. 17.
  1. CE-Wide Lighting Inverter and Batteries Replacement: Bids are due on Jul. 17 for the replacement of emergency lighting inverters and backup batteries that provide power to designated emergency lighting during outages.
  1. Promotional Banner: The project is scheduled for consideration at the Jul. 16 Board of Trustees meeting, with a recommendation to award the contract to Sign Age Identity for the design and production of branded banners that promote SDCCE’s identity and programs across multiple campuses.
