Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

City College:

1. “A” Building Expansion: A president’s review meeting was held on Jul. 27, followed by a Design Development (DD) workshop with the campus deans on Jul. 30.

Mesa College:

1. Mesa Commons Envelope Leak Mitigation: Construction began on Jul. 27.

2. Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure: The 100% Schematic Design (SD) deliverable was submitted on Jul. 28, followed by a page-turn review with the district design team on Jul. 29 and the district facilities team on Jul. 30.

3. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gate Replacement (PS-100) Building: A post-bid meeting was held with Eroom, Inc. on Jul. 29. Post-bid meetings are held to evaluate a contractor’s bid for completeness and alignment with the project requirements before a recommendation for Board approval.

4. Athletics Complex: A page-turn review meeting of the 100% SD deliverable with the district was held on Jul. 29. Construction cost estimate reconciliation with Kitchell CEM Estimating continued.

5. Emergency Generator Replacement at Learning Resource Center (LRC): A post-bid meeting was held on Jul. 30 with Neeman General Contracting.

6. Design Center Improvements: Development of bid documents, including logistics and phasing plans, continued.

Miramar College:

1. Aviation Instructional Center: The district reviewed the 100% DD deliverable during the week of Jul. 27.

2. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gates Replacement (G3 and G4) Building: A post-bid meeting was held with Superior Door Systems on Jul. 28.

3. Early Education Center: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) continued development of the Increment 2 100% DD deliverable. In response to the geotechnical recommendations, an application was submitted to SDG&E to revise the design of the existing gas utility line and ensure adequate coverage.

College of Continuing Education:

1. Harbor View Parking Garage Doors & Gates Replacement: A post-bid meeting was scheduled with Eroom, Inc. on Jul. 27.

2. ECC Room 76 Air Conditioning Unit (ACU) Upgrade: Startup and commissioning began during the week of Jul. 27.

3. Harbor View Third Floor Patio Tile Replacement: Construction began on Jul. 27.

4. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A focus group meeting with Student Support Services was held on Jul. 28.

5. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) New Facilities Building: A DBE scoring matrix review was held on Jul. 29.

6. West City Expansion: A stakeholder design meeting was held on Jul. 30.

7. ECC Ceramics: Advertisement for bids was released on Jul. 31.

Other District Locations:

1. Police Investigations Office Buildout: Furniture mobilization began on Jul. 27.

2. Lighting Inverter and Batteries Replacement: A post-bid meeting was held with PowerOn Energy, Inc. on Jul. 28.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

City College:

1. “A” Building Expansion: Post-bid interviews for mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection are scheduled for Aug. 6–7.

2. Hardscape Improvements: This project improves pedestrian safety by grinding down uneven pavement to reduce trip hazards throughout the campus. A punch walk and final acceptance walk are scheduled for Aug. 7.

Mesa College:

1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The 100% SD deliverable will be reviewed by the district team during the week of Aug. 3.

2. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Upgrades (S100) Building: Construction is scheduled to begin during the week of Aug. 3.

3. Athletics Complex: The 100% SD deliverable will be reviewed by the district team. Construction cost estimate reconciliation with Kitchell CEM Estimating will be underway.

4. Design Center Improvements: Development of bid documents, including logistics and phasing plans, will continue.

Miramar College:

1. Pedestrian Bridge Deck Repair at Police Academy (A200) Building: The 30% SD submission from BWE is anticipated on Aug. 4.

2. HVAC Upgrades (10 Classrooms and 2 Offices) at Police Academy (A200) Building: Owner training with the district facilities team is scheduled for Aug. 7.

3. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The campus team will review the SD deliverable. The DBE will revise the design to reflect the preferred exterior rendering and meet again with the campus to present an updated design.

4. Early Education Center: The DBE will meet with campus facilities to conduct a page turn of the 100% Increment 1 Construction Documents (CD) deliverable.

College of Continuing Education:

1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: An SD stakeholder meeting is scheduled for Aug. 4.

2. West City Expansion: An SD stakeholder meeting is scheduled for Aug. 5.

3. Harbor View Hardscape Improvements and Trip Hazard: A punch walk and final acceptance walk are scheduled for Aug. 5.

4. ECC Ceramics: A bid walk is scheduled for Aug. 6.

Other District Locations:

1. Districtwide Lighting Fixture Assessment: A site survey with Shadpour Engineers at City College is expected to be completed by Aug. 7.

Key Items of Interest:

1. Caltrans 22nd Annual Procurement and Resource Fair: The district will participate as an exhibitor at this Aug. 5 event to promote upcoming Measure HH contracting opportunities and connect with the local small business community. More than 600 participants are expected to attend.
