Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: Onsite potholing for utility verification began and will continue through Aug. 8. Shortlist interviews for Design-Build Entity (DBE) trade partners were held from Aug. 6–7.
  1. Saville Theatre: Fault line technical geotechnical trenching began and will continue through mid-August.
  1. Hardscape Improvements: This project improves pedestrian safety by grinding down uneven pavements to reduce trip hazards throughout the campus. A punch walk and final acceptance walk were held on Aug. 7.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Upgrades at Allied Health Education (S-100) Building: Construction began week of Aug. 3.
  1. Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure: The district reviewed the 100% Schematic Design (SD) deliverable during the week of Aug. 3. A coordination meeting with the DBE, civil engineers, and the city liaison consultant to review the easement encroachment permitting process and strategy was held on Aug. 4.
  1. Athletics Complex: The 100% SD deliverable was reviewed by the district team. Meetings with the DBE and geotechnical engineers were held on Aug. 4 and Aug. 7 to review the findings and recommendations.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Development of bid documents, including logistics and phasing plans, continued.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Aviation Instructional Center: The 100% Design Development (DD) deliverable was approved by the district on Aug. 3.
  1. Early Education Center: The DBE submitted the Increment 2 100% DD deliverable for review on Aug. 4, followed by a page-turn meeting for the 100% Construction Document (CD) deliverable on Aug. 6.
  1. Pedestrian Bridge Deck Repair at Police Academy (A200) Building: The 30% SD submission from BWE was received on Aug. 4.
  1. Electrical Master Plan: A site discovery walk was held Aug. 5 with MCM Utility and Randall Lamb Engineering to review existing electrical infrastructure.
  1. Performance Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE presented the design to reflect the preferred exterior rendering and met with the campus to present an updated design on Aug. 5.
  1. HVAC Upgrades (10 Classrooms and 2 Offices) at Police Academy (A200) Building: Owner training with the district facilities team was held on Aug. 7.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. Harbor View Hardscape Improvements and Trip Hazard: A punch walk and final acceptance walk were held on Aug. 5.
  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: An SD meeting with stakeholders was held on Aug. 4.
  1. ECC Ceramics: A bid walk was held on Aug. 6.

 

Other District Locations:

  1. Districtwide Lighting Fixture Assessment: A site survey with Shadpour Engineers at City College was completed on Aug. 7.

 

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

City College:

  1. Saville Theatre: Fault line geotechnical trenching will continue through Aug. 18.
  1. HVAC Replacement at Math and Science (MS) Building: The district design team will review the 50% CD and provide comments by Aug. 10.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: An SD meeting with deans is scheduled for Aug. 11. Shortlist interviews for DBE trade partners are scheduled for Aug. 13–14, followed by a campus architecture meeting with district leadership on Aug. 14.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A parking structure design meeting with the DBE and campus leadership to discuss materiality, finishes, and aesthetics is scheduled for Aug. 11.
  1. Athletics Complex: The 100% construction cost estimate reconciliation review is due Aug. 17.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Development of bid documents, including logistics and phasing plans, will continue.

 

Miramar College:

  1. HVAC Upgrades (10 Classrooms and 2 Offices) at Police Academy (A200) Building: A punch walk is scheduled for Aug. 11.
  1. Second Floor Remodel Tenant Improvement at Police Academy (A200) Building: A punch walk is scheduled for Aug. 11.
  1. Pool Deck Replacement and Replaster: The 90% CD design package is anticipated to be received for campus and district review by Aug. 14.
  1. Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE will continue development of the 50% CD deliverable and coordinate with San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) for the new electrical service required for the building.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE will continue revising the exterior and meet again with campus leadership to present an updated concept.
  1. Early Education Center: The district will review the 100% Increment 2 DD deliverable during the week of Aug. 10.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. ECC Building Trades Training Center: A presentation to the campus Executive Planning Committee is scheduled for Aug. 11.

  1. Caltrans 22nd Annual Procurement and Resource Fair: The district participated as an exhibitor at this Aug. 5 event to promote upcoming Measure HH contracting opportunities and connect with the local small business community. More than 670 participants attended.
