Longevity Recognition

To be used to interpret salary placement for FOOD SERVICE and OFFICE TECHNICAL employees through longevity recognition.

  • 2.0 General Guidelines
    • 2.1 An employee shall earn concurrent service toward the five (5) years of service at Step "E" of their current classification and ten (10) years service with the District.
    • 2.2 Should the current classification of an employee serving at step "E" be reallocated, a change in range without change to the classification itself, to a new range due to circumstances such as, but not limited to, a classification study, the employee shall retain credit for time served at step "E" from the prior range allocation.
      If the employee is placed at a step lower than "E" on the newly allocated range, the employee will advance one step annually until reaching step "E" and shall be required, in order to be eligible to apply for advancement to step "F", to serve at step "E" at least one (1) year and that amount of time, if any, which when combined with service credit retained from the prior allocation is equal to at least a total of five (5) years of service at step "E".
    • 2.3 An employee who has advanced to step "F" through longevity recognition and whose classification is subsequently reallocated, a change in range without change to the classification itself, due to circumstances such as, but not limited to, a classification study, and the employee is placed at a step lower than "F" on the newly allocated range, the employee will advance one step annually and after serving one year at step "E" will be eligible to apply for advancement to step "F".
    • 2.4 At any time the classification of an employee is changed due to circumstance such as, but not limited to, promotion or reclassification, the employee will be required to serve five (5) years at step "E" in the new classification in order to be eligible to apply to advance to step "F" through longevity recognition. In the case of promotion, however, an employee who has advanced to step "F" through longevity recognition may be placed at step "F" of a new classification when placement at step "E" would not provide an increase in salary.
