DISTRICT OFFICE:

  • 1.0 INSTRUCTIONS FOR TENURE
  • 1.1 The President makes the final campus decision regarding the tenure status of probationary faculty members and forwards that recommendation to the Chancellor. The Chancellor's office forwards recommendations to the Human Resources office (Employee Relations). For Centers for Education and Technology, this decision considers the recommendations of the Committee on Academic Personnel (C.A.P.) as provided in the bargaining contracts between the District and the exclusive representative. For the colleges, this decision considers the recommendations of the Evaluation Committee and the Academic Senate as provided in the bargaining contracts between the District and the exclusive representative.

CENTERS AND COLLEGES:

  • 2.0 The Human Resources office prepares the appropriate document for Chancellor/Board approval.
  • 3.0 Following Chancellor/Board approval, the Human Resources office prepares a notification/congratulatory letter to the faculty member for the Chancellor.
  • 4.0 The Chancellor reviews and signs the notification/congratulatory letter with a copy to the President and for the personnel file.
  • 5.0 The Human Resources office mails the Chancellor's letter to the individual being tenured and makes the appropriate change in the employee's status on the HR system.

DISTRICT OFFICE:

  • 6.0 INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROMOTION
  • 6.1 The President/Provost makes the final decision regarding the promotion of the faculty members and forwards that decision to the Chancellor. The Chancellor's office forwards recommendations to the Human Resources office (Employee Relations). For Centers for Education and Technology, this decision considers the recommendation of the Committee on Academic Personnel (C.A.P.) as provided in the bargaining contracts between the District and the exclusive representative. For the colleges, this decision considers the recommendations of the Evaluation Committee and the Academic Senate as provided in the bargaining contracts between the District and the exclusive representative. A notification/ congratulatory letter is sent to the faculty member by the president.

CENTERS AND COLLEGES:

  • 7.0 The Human Resources office prepares a congratulatory letter for the Chancellor's signature to the faculty member of the decision to be promoted.
  • 8.0 The Chancellor reviews and signs the congratulatory letter with a copy to the President and personnel file.
  • 9.0 The Human Resources office mails the Chancellor's letter and makes the appropriate change for salary step placement.
