Annual Security Report released

October 2, 2017 | San Diego Community College District

The Annual Security Report: Safe and Sound, A Guide to Safety and Security in the San Diego Community College District for the reporting years 2014-2016, is now available to our faculty, staff, students, visitors, and members of the public.

This annual publication is a coordinated effort between various departments within the District to generate, compile, and report crime, arrest, and student disciplinary information as required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the “Clery Act”). The Clery Act is a federal regulation that requires U.S. colleges and universities that participate in federal student financial aid programs to distribute a detailed annual security report that discloses information about crime on and around our campuses.

In addition to the Clery Act, on March 7, 2013, President Obama signed a bill that strengthened and reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Included in the bill is the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE), which amends the Clery Act and affords additional rights to campus victims of sexual violence, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.

The Annual Security report can be viewed here. In an effort to go green, printed copies are available only upon request by calling the College Police at 619-388-6411. Questions regarding the Annual Security Report, the Clery Act, or VAWA, may be directed to the Title IX Compliance Office or to College Police
