District gearing up for Great California Shakeout on Oct. 20

October 7, 2016 | San Diego Community College District

The San Diego Community College District Emergency Management Resource Team (EMRT) wants to remind you that we will once again coordinate The Great California ShakeOut earthquake emergency drill on October 20 districtwide. So let’s get ready to DROP! COVER! And HOLD ON!

As part of our efforts to maintain a more prepared community, each area site will be participating in the Shakeout by deploying CCERT teams for drills, communication capabilities checks and community education about steps we can take at home and work to reduce risks in the event of an earthquake.

Our CCERT program regularly trains, drills, and receives EMRT updates to their skills in first responder augmentation such as, search and rescue, medical operations, light fire suppression, leadership, and personal disaster planning.

Additionally EMRT offers regular Incident Command System (ICS)/National Incident Management System (NIMS)/State Emergency Management System (SEMS) training, drills and exercises for administration assigned to Incident Command Posts (IPCs).

For more information on how you can participate and learn more about earthquake safety, please visit www.shakeout.org/california.
