Sen. Marty Block to address 4-year degrees at Mesa College

State Sen. Marty Block, San Diego Community College District Chancellor Constance M. Carroll and local business representatives will share an important announcement on new funding for San Diego Mesa College and California’s 14 other baccalaureate pilot program colleges on Thursday, Dec. 3.
A news conference and check presentation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Mesa College Allied Health Building (See Map).
In August, Mesa College launched its four-year program in Health Information Management – becoming the first community college in California to do so under the state’s historic baccalaureate pilot program. Sen. Block authored legislation in 2014 that established the program. Since then, Block has been working to secure start-up funding for Mesa and 14 other colleges in the pilot program. Participating colleges will offer bachelor’s degrees in a variety of career-technical programs that are in demand by employers. Students who enroll will pay a total of $10,560 in fees for their four-year degree, less than the cost of a California State University degree.
