Dr. Ricky Shabazz, President of San Diego City College, addresses the community from the campus of San Diego City College. His radio address, City College Update, airs monthly on the first Monday of every month (barring any holidays). The next airing is Monday, March 4, 2019.

5/6/2019 - Nesha Savage, Dean, Student Development and Matriculation and Personal Growth at San Diego City College gives the City College Update for May, 2019. 

4/1/2019 - Dr. Tori Randall and Dr. Tim Gross discuss the Anthropology and Archeology departments, respectively, here at City College. 

3/4/2019 - Wendy Wiehl, Director of the Alcohol and other Drug Studies program at City College gave the update for the month of March. Topics included: Drug Statistics in the U.S. as well as the program City College offers to prepare students in the drug and alcohol counseling field. 

2/4/2019 - Jeanie Tyler, Associate Dean of Strong Workforce Programs City College gave the update for the month of February 2019. Topics included: What is Workforce?, Education and Apprenticeship programs and the Counseling and Career Center services for students. 

1/7/2019 - Genevieve Esguerra, Associate Dean of Outreach and Community Relations at City College give the update this first month of 2019. Topics include: Open Enrollment, Concurrent Enrollment and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade that City College will be a part of on Monday, January 21. 

12/3/2018 - Denise Whisenhunt, V.P. of City College Student Services gives the December address and talks about the opening of the new cultural center (Subir!), the new A Building move-in and promoting the ultimate Student Experience. 

11/12/2018 - City College President Ricky Shabazz discusses the grant that supports the Veterans Resource Center here at City College. Jim Sinegal's, founder of Costco, generous gift of $150,000 to City College and 'Giving Tuesday,' on November 27. 

10/1/2018 - Dr. Shabazz discusses the Ultimate Student Experience, Undocumented Student Action Week and City College Athletics among other topics. 

9/10/2018 - President Ricky Shabazz discusses the brand new semester and how it's not too late to sign up for classes, the great work the food pantry is doing,the upcoming Constitution week (beginning Sept. 17) and the new associate degree being offered in Esthetician principles (begins in Fall 2019). 

8/20/2018 - City College President Ricky Shabazz discusses the brand new semester, the hiring of new faculty, the new partnership working with OpenStax and the recent success of the annual Passport to Life: A Career and Educational Expo.

7/2/2018 - President Ricky Shabazz discusses his recent BPAC presentation, the accolade from the California Community College Chancellor's office about preparing students for good-paying jobs. Shabazz also discussed City's workforce programs and enrollment opportunities for the Summer and Fall.  

6/4/2018 - President Shabazz discusses the recent commencement ceremony on May 25th (largest ever), Summer classes, Dream Big and the possibility of companies, community centers or libraries hosting an off-campus SD City college class.

5/7/2018 - Commencement is upon us and summer classes are less than a month away. Don't miss the Dream Big campaign and the cultural hub opening.

4/2/2018 - There's a lot happening in April - Summer registration, scholarship banquet, Open House and Research Symposium.

3/5/2018 - President Shabazz discusses late start classes, summer registration and digital journalism. Also, there's great information about the #GIVECITY campaign happening in April. 

2/13/2018 - President Ricky Shabazz sits in with our Jazz Morning Drive host Joe Kocherhans to discuss all things City College.

1/29/2018 - City College President Ricky Shabazz gives his first address of the new year and of the Spring Semester. The president talks about all the enrollment opportunities available at City College. 

12/4/2017 - Dr. Shabazz talks about the San Diego Promise allowing local students to attend their first year at City College for FREE. Shabazz also acknowledged the original music heard in his address. It was composed by Anthony Cunningham, a City College student in the Commercial Music Program. 

11/6/2017 - Dr. Shabazz gives his November 2017 City College Update radio address and talks about the passage of AB-19, 4-week intersessions and the upcoming Spring semester.
