Food banks around San Diego County
March 16, 2020 |
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all of the San Diego Community College District's campuses have closed for the safety of our faculty, staff and students. These closures unfortunately, also mean that our food pantries will be closed. There are other food bank options for members of the SDCCD community should they be in need of additional support.
The San Diego Food Bank is continuing operations and still welcomes volunteers. The Food Bank distributes food to more than 350,000 individuals a month in San Diego County, in partnership with more than 500 nonprofit partners. At this time, the Food Bank does not anticipate adding special distributions due to COVID-19. If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, check this list of available food distributions throughout the county. Donations are also welcome.
Although Feeding San Diego has canceled volunteer shifts due to its response to COVID-19, the organization is still providing food at multiple distribution centers around San Diego County. Additional community resources are available by calling 2-1-1. Public support helps ensure that Feeding San Diego can continue to meet the ongoing and evolving needs of the community during the coronavirus outbreak. Every $1 donated helps provide 4 meals.
