The SDCCD celebrates our nation's veterans

November 2, 2020 | San Diego Community College District

The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) – including San Diego City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges and San Diego Continuing Education – will be honoring those who have served our nation during Veterans Day week from November 9-13, 2020 through virtual celebrations, job readiness workshops, informational sessions about transferring to a university, and more.

All events are free and open to all veterans, active-duty military, and military spouses. Among the Veterans Day-related opportunities:

Monday, November 9

10:30 a.m. to noon
Troops to Engineers
This Mesa College-sponsored program will provide transitioning military members with information on moving into civilian careers as engineers.


1 to 2:30 p.m.
CSUSM Admission Information Session
Learn more about transferring to Cal State San Marcos at this Mesa College-sponsored workshop for veterans.

2 to 3 p.m.

Boots to Suits Career Workshops
City College-sponsored employment preparation workshop for active-duty military, military veterans, or military spouses.

Mesa College transfer workshop for veterans interested in attending San Diego State University.

Formal Veterans Day Program
San Diego City College’s annual Veterans Day program honoring those who have proudly served our country.

Veterans Day Address and Student Panel
San Diego Continuing Education’s Student Affairs and Veterans Services are sponsoring an online Veterans Day address and student panel.

SDCCD Veterans Day Program
Join us for a special slideshow and sparkling cider toast honoring our veterans, active-duty military, and military spouses.

Informational session on opportunities to learn about preparing taxes.

Resume and Cover Letter Workshop
This City College session will help you learn how to better market yourself when seeking the job you want.

As one of the largest of California’s 73 community college districts, the San Diego Community College District serves approximately 100,000 students annually through three two-year colleges and San Diego Continuing Education. The three colleges, San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College, and San Diego Miramar College, offer associate degrees and certificates in occupational programs that prepare students for transfer to four-year colleges and entry-level jobs. Mesa College also offers a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management. Continuing Education offers noncredit adult education at seven campuses throughout San Diego.
