SDCCD statement in support of the Asian-American and Pacific Islander community

March 18, 2021 | San Diego Community College District

The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) strongly condemns recent acts of hatred and violence directed at members of the Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

The SDCCD stands in support of the AAPI community and others who have come under attack since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no place in our society for those who would seek to persecute and scapegoat others simply because of their race, skin color, cultural heritage, ethnic origin, religion, LGBTQ affiliation, and/or other reasons. The District’s four Institutions, City, Mesa, and Miramar Colleges, the College of Continuing Education, the Board of Trustees, and the entire District support the AAPI community and denounce the hostile attacks in recent months. We are providing counseling and other support to students who need assistance due to the impact of this current crisis. The District reaffirms its commitment to the safety and well-being of AAPI community members and assures them that they are not alone.
