Deadline for LGBTQIA+ art submissions

Museum Studies at San Diego Mesa College are looking for art that celebrates and supports LGBTQIA+ identity and its expressions, as a labor of love and activism. Artworks that embody the cathartic nature of  creativity within the queer community. Artworks that address the past, present and future of love and liberation and that celebrate self-discovery and existence as an act of resistance. All artists are encouraged to participate and submit their artworks.

The deadline to submit files and information by midnight, Sunday, September 25, 2022. Artists will be notified by Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

Artwork should be delivered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. October 12  and 13, or from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 14.

This is open to all emerging and established artists residing in the region. All media are accepted including sculpture, video, soundscapes, two-dimensional work, performance, installation. Original artwork only, please. And we request that your artwork be ready to hang and install.

There are no fees to apply. There is no budget for any material costs for this exhibition, therefore work must be funded, produced, and delivered by the artist.

Submission Guidelines: Please submit material listed below to this Google form.

1. A maximum of 3 .PDF or .JPEG images. Label and number files with your name. Example: GarciaAlex01.jpeg, GarciaAlex02.jpeg (please keep files between 72 - 150 dpi.)
2. A statement about your work and how it responds to the theme.
3. A link to your website or social media.

Due to possible changes with COVID restrictions, if our district policies change this exhibition could be canceled. If the exhibit canceled, a virtual gallery website will be created.

This exhibition is curated by the Museum Studies class at San Diego Mesa College under the direction of Professor Alessandra Moctezuma. We are excited to work with local artists to showcase the amazing talent of our region.
