Dedication of the César Chávez Car Park in Barrio Logan

San Diego Community College District's staff, faculty and students as well as many members of the community came out on Wednesday, March 23 to celebrate the dedication of San Diego Continuing Education's new César Chávez car park in Barrio Logan.

Speakers included San Diego Councilman David Alvarez, Continuing Education President Carlos Turner Cortez, SDCCD Chancellor Constance M. Carroll, Board President Maria Nieto Senour, Rachael Ortiz (Executive Director, Barrio Station), Ken Seaton-Msemaji (Co-founder, United Domestic Workers), Carlos LeGerette (Executive Director, César Chávez Service Clubs, with the “Chavistas”), and some members of the Chávez family. Music was provided by Chunky Sanchez.

The $1.555 billion Propositions S and N construction bond program provides new state-of-the-art instructional and career training facilities, major renovations, and campuswide infrastructure projects at City, Mesa and Miramar colleges and six Continuing Education campuses throughout San Diego.
