The Week of Action is a statewide, student-led campaign to advocate for a permanent solution to codify the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that includes a pathway to citizenship, as well as to provide support and resources to California’s undocumented student population.
The League, in partnership with the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the Foundation for California Community Colleges, the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges, the Student Senate for California Community Colleges, and Immigrants Rising released a series of tools and resources for colleges and students to use during and after the Week of Action to engage in robust discussion and nonviolent action in support of undocumented students.
“Undocumented Student Week of Action offers our 114 community colleges and 2.1 million students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the issues confronting undocumented students pursuing further education for themselves and their families,” says Larry Galizio, President & CEO of the Community College League of California.
During the Week of Action, colleges, faculty, students and partner organizations are encouraged to contact their Congressional representatives, sign postcards in support of DACA, register students to vote, and host events to assist undocumented students.
