In her new position, Ayala’s responsibilities will include managing facilities operations and safety functions of the district, including construction, renovation, capital programs management, maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment, and implementing risk management and safety programs.
"I'm delighted to join the innovative team at the San Diego Community College District,” Ayala said. “I look forward to helping to lead the district's efforts to ensure that all students are safe and receive their education in outstanding facilities."
Since 2016, Ayala has worked as Director of Facilities, Operations and Planning for the Southwestern Community College District. She oversaw the district’s facilities, Environmental, Health and safety programs, including direct management of a $400 million construction bond projects.
Before working at Southwestern College, Ayala worked as a facilities manager for UTC Aerospace Systems in San Diego. She managed the Chula Vista, Colorado and Phoenix facilities and coordinated work internationally, Ayala also assisted in business development presentations throughout the Westcoast.
Ayala earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in project management from National University.
