San Diego Community College District students now have a new, more affordable path to earning bachelor’s degrees online, supported by a new partnership with Arizona State University.

Beginning this fall, eligible students and alumni from San Diego City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges can save 22% on tuition when they transfer to ASU Online through the California Community College Achievement Plan.

The opportunity is part of the university's broader effort to increase access to higher education for students. This seamless and affordable transfer pathway for California residents reduces financial barriers and supports students who need flexibility and options for an education that prepares them for the future. There are no income requirements to receive the tuition reduction.

“We are excited anytime that we can partner to help our students accomplish their educational and career goals,” said City College President Ricky Shabazz. “This pathway is exciting because it will support students exploring additional transfer opportunities.”

The program is a promising opportunity to expand access to undergraduate degrees from a global research university, especially for place-bound students, including those who work and those with families.

Ashanti T. Hands, President of Mesa College added:
“At San Diego Mesa College, we believe every student deserves a clear, affordable, and supported path to a bachelor’s degree, regardless of ZIP code, background, or life circumstance. Through our partnership with Arizona State University and tools like MyPath2ASU®, we’re removing barriers that have long kept place-bound students or those priced out of opportunity from achieving their goals. Together, we’re expanding access, reimagining what’s possible, and creating new pathways for community college students to thrive beyond the associate degree, advancing their purpose, potential, and economic mobility.”

ASU Online reimagines learning by providing students top-tier university resources and support from enrollment to graduation and beyond. Students can choose from 180+ undergraduate degrees — all taught by the same faculty using the same curriculum available on campuses.

“This partnership with ASU marks another great pathway for students who want to transfer to be able to do so,” said P. Wesley Lundburg, President of Miramar College. “ASU is a great online option for place-bound students who are looking for an additional option to the local universities. I’m very pleased that we have this opportunity in place with guaranteed transfer for our students.”

ASU Online and the San Diego Community College District serve thousands of local students and alumni, empowering them to succeed by preparing them to contribute to their local communities and the state’s workforce and economy in fields such as business, psychology, communication, nursing, graphic design and fashion.
