Safety is a top priority at the San Diego Community College District. In an ongoing commitment to campus safety at its four colleges – San Diego City, Mesa, Miramar, and Continuing Education colleges – deployed the SDCCDsafe app. The free mobile app turns any smartphone into a personal safety device.

Other features of the SDCCDsafe include:

  • Easy Emergency Communication: In an emergency, users can connect directly to College Police and their current location will be shared immediately.
  • Let Your Network Know You’re OK: In the event of an emergency, users can mark themselves safe and share with their personal safety network.
  • Send Anonymous Tips: See something, say something. The app allows users to anonymously and discreetly report suspicious activity to College Police and include relevant photos or video.

“The safety of our students and employees is our top priority throughout the San Diego Community College District,” said Jack Beresford, Vice Chancellor of Communications, Marketing & Public Affairs. “The SDCCDsafe app allows each one of our community members across 10 campuses and the District Office to be proactive about their safety and help keep themselves, as well as their classmates and colleagues, safer. We encourage everyone to download the SDCCDsafe app today.”
