Students can choose from thousands of online and in-person classes in more than 400 academic programs that lead to university transfer and/or good-paying careers. This includes high demand fields such as cybersecurity, fire science, welding, and many areas of health care. It also includes bachelor’s degrees at each of the district’s three credit colleges. In addition, the College of Continuing Education offers hundreds of free career training classes, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, citizenship classes, a High School Diploma and GED program, and more.
Enrollment has increased each year across the district since fall 2022. The fastest area of growth is dual enrollment, which allows high school students free access to college courses, which can be taken at a college campus or at their current high school.
During the coming academic year, the district anticipates completion of the first Measure HH project, a $65 million renovation of the historic, 275-seat theatre at the Educational Cultural Complex in the southeast San Diego neighborhood of Mountain View. More than a dozen other Measure HH construction projects will commence this year. Highlights include a modernized aviation training center at Miramar College, an eight-story, 797-bed student housing community at City College, and a dramatic overhaul of Mesa College's athletic facilities, with a new Aquatics Center to replace its 50-year-old pool.

San Diego City College
City has been selected to join the 2026 FamilyU Cohort, a national initiative that supports colleges in strengthening services for student parents. The cohort runs through June 2028 and will help the college advance policies, resources, and campus practices that address the needs of students raising children while pursuing their education, including childcare access, flexible scheduling, and academic support.
San Diego Mesa College
Mesa is preparing to launch a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant in the fall of 2027, marking the college's second bachelor's degree program and expanding access to advanced healthcare education in the region. And Measure HH investments in the campus Learning Resource Center reflect Mesa's commitment to creating spaces where students can learn, connect, and thrive through improvements that enhance accessibility, safety, and reliability.
San Diego Miramar College
Miramar continues to build upon upper-division courses in its Public Safety Management baccalaureate program. In addition, shovels are expected to hit the ground in the spring of 2027 on a modernized Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center, a vital part of program meeting a rising demand for drone pilots, airport operations staff, and top-flight mechanics.
San Diego College of Continuing Education
The College of Continuing Education has launched an Optical Technician program that trains participants for entry-level jobs as optical technicians or dispensing opticians, with students learning to interpret prescriptions, select and fit lenses, and perform optical calculations. A new Ophthalmic Assistant program trains participants for entry-level jobs supporting eye care professionals in ophthalmology clinics, hospitals, and private practices.
With most courses at just $46 per unit, the SDCCD offers one of the most affordable ways to achieve a college education.
