Professional Development Calendar

As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering continuous professional growth and enhancing our students' learning experience, we are excited to introduce a series of professional development workshops that will be covering course design foundations and effective practices to support an inclusive learning environment. 

Online Learning Pathways is pleased to announce the introduction of our new workshop formats. The calendar below lists the titles of our workshops, along with additional information to help you get the most out of each session. Be sure to check it out and plan ahead to make the most of these valuable learning opportunities!

Workshop Series

We have three main workshop series:

  1. CAN DO: For Busy Educators Series
    We'll cover the essentials of using Canvas, along with some of its special features to help you streamline your teaching and enhance student engagement. Perfect for those short on time but eager to maximize their Canvas skills. Join us and discover what Canvas CAN DO for you!

  2. Ed-Venture Series
    This workshop series is all about exploring innovative teaching practices to boost student learning and make your courses a hit with students. Whether you're looking to refresh your approach or try something new, these sessions are packed with creative strategies and practical tips. Join us and take your teaching to the next level!

  3. Za-Za Zoom Series
    Join us for a series of workshops where you'll learn how to harness the power of Zoom to elevate your teaching. From designing interactive sessions to creating a strong learning community, we'll show you how to make the most of Zoom's features to engage your students like never before. Don't miss out!

  • Click-A-Long
    This hands-on session lets you work on your course in real-time while following along with guided instructions. Bring your laptop, and as we explore features and strategies, you'll click along and apply them directly to your course. It’s the perfect way to learn by doing and leave the workshop with tangible progress!

  • Demo
    We'll be showcasing new applications and processes that can elevate your teaching experience. You'll get a firsthand look at how these tools work, with step-by-step guidance on how to integrate them into your own courses. It's a great opportunity to see the latest innovations in action and ask questions along the way!

  • Community/Panel
    This is your chance to engage with fellow educators in a collaborative space where we’ll discuss key topics, share insights, and explore different perspectives. Whether you have questions, ideas, or just want to listen in, this workshop is all about open dialogue and learning from each other. Everyone’s voice is welcome!

Instructional Technology Workshops

Please checkout our Workshop Archives in the DE Toolkit for recordings of our previously held workshops. Contact your campus Flex coordinator or the SDCCD Flex Handbook for more information on using our workshop archives towards an Independent Project Flex activity.

ONLINE FACULTY CERTIFICATION PROGRAM:

The Online Faculty Certification Program is for faculty who teach online or who are interested in teaching online. It is delivered entirely online through Canvas, and includes Distance Ed Guidelines, online teaching pedagogy, and the nuts and bolts of Canvas Learn. It is designed to take 20 hours to complete. CANVAS TRAINING FOR ON-ground INSTRUCTORS:

The Canvas Training for on-ground Faculty is for faculty who would like to enhance their traditional face-to-face course with a Canvas shell. The non-facilitated course is also delivered fully online through Canvas, and it is designed to take about 5 hours to complete.

You'll be introduced to the technical skills required to enhance your on-campus course with Canvas, including accessibility requirements.Through interactive tutorials, hands-on assignments, and quizzes you'll learn how to navigate the system, add content to your course, allow students to submit assignments online, and post grades to your course.This is a non-facilitated, self-paced, fully online course.

As long as you have a Canvas account with SDCCD you can self-enroll into the OFCP part 1.
