Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. Harry West Gym: A Division of the State Architect (DSA) pre-application meeting was held on Jun. 3.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: A DSA pre-application meeting was held on Jun. 3. A campus safety review follow-up meeting was held on Jun. 4.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Design Center Improvements: The 100% Construction Documents (CD) estimate was received from Kitchell Estimating on Jun. 1.
  1. Gym Floor Repair: Construction began on Jun. 2.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The 100% Schematic Design (SD) milestone page-turn review for the early package and parking structure was held with facilities on Jun. 2 and with the district design team on Jun. 5. A third SD workshop (including a faculty suite preview) with stakeholder leadership was held on Jun. 5.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Carpet: A preconstruction meeting was held on Jun. 4.
  1. Athletics Complex: A preliminary site logistics meeting with the Design-Build Entity (DBE) was held on Jun. 1. A third SD meeting with key stakeholder groups was held on Jun. 3. A second physical planning meeting, focused on site planning, was held on Jun. 4 with the DBE. Geotechnical and site investigation work began on Jun. 1 and will continue through Jun. 18.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The district provided comments on the 50% Design Development (DD) deliverable.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. Mid-City Repair Expansion Joint Sealant: Construction began on Jun. 2.
  1. West City Expansion: An SD kick-off meeting with the DBE was held on Jun. 3.

  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: A 100% SD package review with Operations, Enterprise Services, and Facilities (OESF) is scheduled for Jun. 8. An SD update to President Shabazz and campus leadership is scheduled for Jun. 11.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: An SD update to President Shabazz and campus leadership is scheduled for Jun. 9.
  1. Lighting Inverters at (AH, B, BT, L, M, MS, P, S, V) Buildings and the Garfield Parking Structure: Contractor bids are due on Jun. 11.
  1. Career Technology Center (V-101) Building Auditorium Seating Replacement: The target completion date for campus material selections, including carpet and seating finishes, is Jun. 12.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Athletics Complex: Third SD workshop focus groups for Gym Sports and the Student Success Center are scheduled for Jun. 9. Additional third SD workshop focus groups for Athletic Training (Weight Room/Equipment Room), Physical Education (PE), Concessions/Ticketing/Operations, Stadium Sports, and Throws are scheduled for Jun. 10.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A third SD meeting focused on the main theater is scheduled for Jun. 11.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Development of the procurement strategy and project timeline is continuing.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Emergency Generator: The formal bid advertisement is scheduled to launch on Jun. 15.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gate Replacement (PS) Building: The formal bid advertisement is scheduled to launch on Jun. 15.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE will update the exterior renderings based on campus feedback and meet with campus leadership to present alternative design options, currently scheduled for Jun. 8.
  1. Early Education Center: The DBE is scheduled to deliver the Increment 2 50% Design Development (DD) package on Jun. 12.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE is proceeding with development of the 100% DD deliverable.
  1. Aquatic Center Deck Surfacing and Drains: The 60% DD package district review, with comments, is due by Jun. 15.
  1. Mechanical Upgrades at Science (S6) Building: The project is scheduled for consideration at the Jun. 11 board meeting, with a recommendation to award the contract to Able Heating and Air Conditioning.
  1. Roofing Repairs at Business & Math (Building M), Arts & Humanities (Building H), and College Police (Building T1): The project is scheduled for consideration at the Jun. 11 board meeting, with a recommendation to award the contract to Roof Construction.
  1. Banner Project: The project is scheduled for consideration at the Jun. 11 board meeting, with a recommendation to award the contract to Sign Age Identity.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Theatre Renovation: A site tour for welding students is scheduled for Jun. 11.
  1. CE-Wide Lighting Inverters: The formal bid advertisement is scheduled to launch on Jun. 8.

Key Items of Interest:

  1. Emergency Communication System (ECS) IT Upgrade: A districtwide scope overview meeting was held on Jun. 3 to review the ECS scope, discuss project impacts, and provide an overall project overview.
  1. Operations, Enterprise Services, and Facilities: The Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) tentative budget was finalized in coordination with Financial Business Services (FBS). Preparations for the FY27 transition continue, including a meeting with the auditor this week and development of documentation for the June Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) meeting.
  1. DBE Meet & Greet: A contractor networking event is scheduled at Miramar College on Jun. 10. The event will connect contractors, specialty trades, small businesses, and diverse firms with Measure HH Design-Build teams to learn about upcoming opportunities and build industry partnerships.

 

Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: Exterior rendering feedback received from the campus is being addressed. The SD deliverable was previously scheduled for Jun. 1 and is now anticipated on Jun. 29.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: Design is continuing while alternative site locations are being considered. The DBE has recommended that the district either pause design activities or select a site location by Jul. 21 to avoid associated critical redesign efforts.
