Dr. Peterson has been recognized as a Veteran Leader of Influence by the San Diego Business Journal, an honor that celebrates exceptional leadership within the veteran community. Before embarking on a distinguished career in higher education, corporate leadership, and finance, Dr. Peterson served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. The values gained through military service, including integrity, teamwork, and a sense of duty, continue to inform Dr. Peterson's leadership as Vice Chancellor of the San Diego Community College District.
At SDCCD, Dr. Peterson is dedicated to empowering both active duty military members and veterans, ensuring they have the support needed to thrive during and after their service. Under this leadership, the District has strengthened its commitment to honoring those who have served by building pathways to opportunity through education.
