San Diego Unified School District and San Diego Community College District

Our classes and programs for San Diego Unified School District students allow you to get a head start on earning college credits and working towards a certificate and/or college degree.

San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College and San Diego Miramar College offer SDUSD students access to college level quality education while still being able to earn high school and/or college credit.

There are three programs we offer San Diego Unified Students. Please check them out below. If you already know what program you're part of, apply below.

As a Concurrent enrollment student, you can enroll in SDCCD courses to earn college credit. Take classes on a college campus while not having to pay college tuition! High school students requesting concurrent enrollment are subject to the following criteria:

  • Students must have completed the 10th grade.
  • Students may enroll in fewer than 12 units and have their enrollment fees waived.
  • Enrollment in Physical Education classes will not be permitted.
  • The course must be advanced scholastic or technical (college degree applicable). Contact the college Admissions Office for information.
  • Students will be given college credit for all courses. Grades will be part of the student's permanent college record.

steps to Apply/Enroll for concurrent enrollment

If you meet the requirements and wish to apply for concurrent enrollment, follow these steps:

  1. Apply for admission using the application links below.
    • When you complete the online application, you will be sent your 10-digit Student Identification Number to the email address you provided on your application within 1 business day.

      NOTE: Be sure to keep this number in a secure location. It will be required to access your student records, access online services and to conduct all business with the college.
  2. Once you have your Student ID number (will be sent to the email you provided on your application), submit the online Supplemental Application for High School Students This must be done each term.

  3. Complete the form
    • Enter the Student ID Number you have been assigned.
    • Refer to the College Catalog for course descriptions
    • Refer to the upcoming term's Class Schedule to select classes and enter the 5-digit class number on the form.
  4. You will receive a notification that your high school form was accepted.  
  5. College Staff will enroll you in your requested classes.  If the class is full or you do not meet requirements, you will be contacted by the College Admissions staff.

Welcome to the San Diego Community College District College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP). the CCAP program helps high school students to get a jump start on college by earning college and high school credit at no cost. In addition to saving time and money, the CCAP program help prepare students for the rigors of college level studies.

CCAP Classes are:

  • Taught at the High School
  • Part of the Regular School Day
  • Receive High School and College Credit
  • Free Tuition and Textbooks

Steps to Enroll:

  1. Get in touch with your high school counselor to find out if CCAP is offered at your school
  2. Apply to the college by clicking on the college below.
  3. Submit a Supplemental Application/Authorization (CCAP Agreement)
  4. College staff will manually enroll you in the course(s)

A CTE Transitions Credit by Exam agreement between a high school and San Diego Community College District (including San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College, and San Diego Miramar College) allows high school students to receive community college credit for an approved high school class if the student meets all the requirements of the agreement. These agreements better ensure that a student does not have to repeat the same content in at community college that they already studied in high school.  CTE Transitions Credit by Exam Agreements are available for high school career education courses only.

Required Steps for Receiving College Credit

If you are a high school student in a CTE Transitions course, you need to satisfy and complete the following 5 steps:

  1. Step 1. Enroll in an approved high school CTE Transitions class.
  2. Step 2. Earn an overall course grade of A, B or C for each section of an approved CTE Transitions class and an A or B on the final exam(s) and/or project(s).
  3. Step 3. Successfully complete an SDCCD college application online.
  4. Step 4. Complete the SDUSD/SDCCD CTE Transitions Student Petition for College Credit DocuSign. This DocuSign is sent by the SDUSD CCTE Office. Completed petitions are forwarded to SDCCD Instructional Services for processing once the grade criteria is met.
