Family Medical Leave Act

On this page:

The San Diego Community College District provides leave benefits to eligible employees in accourdance with applicable federal and state leave laws. Employees who are planning a leave for their own serious health condition, to care for a family member, or for pregnancy-related reasons should contact the Human Resources Benefits Office as early as possible to discuss their leave options and receive guidance on the required process.

Employees who are not eligible for leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) may still qualify for leave under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), other applicable laws, or the District's established leave policies and practices.

If you will be absent from work for more than five (5) consecutive workdays, a medical certification or other appropriate supporting documentation is required in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
