Career Advancement
Are you looking to get a new job in a new career or advance in your current position? All four colleges offer pathways for students to advance in their profession. Whether it be to brush up on your skills in Cisco Networking, joining one of our apprenticeship programs, or get your certificate in Cosmotology, we have pathways for you.
Steps to getting started
If you want to receive college credit
San Diego City, Mesa and Miramar College offers credit programs that will help you advance in your career. This is useful if you may want to eventually apply for an associate degree (or transfer), or if you wish to apply for financial aid to help pay for your educational and living expenses while you study.
Create an OpenCCC account using a personal email (or login if you already have an account) and fill out the online application for any of the SDCCD colleges.
Apply for Financial Aid
We highly encourage all students to apply for financial aid. The time it takes to apply for financial aid is small compared to the potential reward of receiving financial assistance. On average, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) takes about 40 minutes to complete for the first time.
Citizens and eligible non-citizens can complete the FAFSA, while other non-citizens can complete the California Dream Act Application (CADA) instead.
If you just need the knowledge to help your career
All four colleges offer certificate programs that help you advance in your career. The San Diego College of Continuing Education offers non-credit certificate programs that are free.
