Complete your admissions requirements as soon as possible. Finishing early secures your place in the San Diego Promise, gives you better access to classes, and leaves time to fix any issues before deadlines pass.

Visit the eligibility page for each application to learn more and determine which option you may qualify for. 

Ensure your high school graduation date or GED/HiSET completion date are file with your college.

Ensure you are Classified as a California Resident by your college.

You will have a To-Do item in your student portal with steps to resolve the issue. You will also receive an email at your @student.sdccd.edu email.

How We Review Your Application

San Diego Promise Program staff review every application to confirm two things: that you qualify under one of the three eligibility tracks, and that all of your admission requirements are on file with the District. Your application is not complete until every requirement has been received, so the sooner you finish, the sooner staff can review it and admit you.

Admission Requirements

  • An active admission application to San Diego City, Mesa, or Miramar College 
  • A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) received by the District 
  • California resident classification from the District 
  • A high school diploma or equivalency, with completion year, received by the District 
  • Enrollment in 12 units for your starting semester, or your approved reduced unit load

About the San Diego Promise Program Application Process 

Submitting a San Diego Promise Program application is the first step in showing your interest.  Students are admitted once all eligibility and admissions requirements are completed. 

Applying to San Diego Promise Program does not guarantee admission, and applicants will be admitted in the order that eligibility and admissions requirements are met, not in the order applications were received.

The San Diego Promise Program application will remain open until the program reaches full capacity for the admitting term. 

For the most up-to-date status, students should check both the San Diego Promise Program website and their application portal to see whether the program is still accepting or admitting students.

If the program fills before all of your requirements are completed, you will be notified through your student.sdccd.edu email that the San Diego Promise Program has reached capacity for the year.

 

After being admitted to the San diego promise program 

Once admitted, students must continue to meet San Diego Promise Program admission and eligibility requirements to remain eligible for benefits.

If a student becomes ineligible for their San Diego Promise Program Track or no longer meets admission requirements, they may be removed from the program and become responsible for fees or awards that the Promise previously covered.

Readmission is not guaranteed and depends on available program funding.
