Emergency Management Resource Team (EMRT) - ALICE Training
The EMRT was created by College Police with the vision of taking a holistic approach to emergency management throughout the District. Members are primarily from the Police Department however embraces a multidisciplinary approach with members from faculty, college and District administration, and staff making up the rest of the team.
With the constant threat of shootings on campuses all across the country, the Department, via EMRT, initiated the implementation of ALICE training to all staff, faculty, students, and members of the local community. ALICE, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate, was developed with the concept in mind that civilians needed a set of skills to learn to take drastic steps in order to survive an active shooter situation, crucial steps until first responders could arrive to neutralize the threat. College Police has a team of Certified ALICE instructors that provide ongoing training classes to the community year round.
