The Career Education and Workforce Development Department manages the SDCCD annual Perkins funds – the leading national funding available for career and technical education programs with the express goal of providing individuals with the academic and technical knowledge and skills they need to prepare for careers in current or emerging employment sectors.

Application Components Summary

  • Due April 16, 2025 
    • Contacts: Please submit college specific contacts to District Educational Services (ematthews@sdccd.edu). Submit the names of anyone locally that you want to have access to view and edit information in the NOVA application.
    • Metrics: Each institution will provide a list of the Vision for Success Goals and Outcomes; use the linked worksheet below and email to ematthews@sdccd.edu. District Educational Services will then enter this information districtwide. This ensures requested metrics are available within the application when entering program activity content. 

 

  • Due May 2, 2025 
      • Due: Required Uses of Funds: There are six (6) required local uses of Perkins V funds. View full Perkins V Act. Section 135 Local Uses of Funds requires that funds made available to eligible recipients shall be used to support career and technical education programs that are of sufficient size, scope, and quality to be effective. Complete the following worksheet and email to Educational Services (ematthews@sdccd.edu): Section 135 Local Required Uses of Funds

      • Due: Program TOP Code or Across Program Worksheet: Colleges  to  provide  information  on  funded  activities, permissive uses, Vision 2030 Goal Alignment, budgets, and expenditures by TOP Code or Across Programs. This worksheet mirrors what NOVA exactly and can be used as a resource:

      • Due: Signed Core Indicator Reports: All programs tied to the application must have signed program level core indicator report (faculty and dean signatures). All colleges must submit signed college-level core indicator report (by president). Program TOP Code – signed by lead faculty and Dean. Institution - signed by President. Electronic signatures are acceptable. 

 

Time and Effort

Salaried positions funded wholly or in part by Perkins 1C must report their time on tasks monthly, which should be aligned with the Perkins application and CLNA. Time and Effort resources to reference:

Quarterly Reporting

  • Quarterly Reporting Worksheet - quarterly worksheet includes required narrative questions for NOVA reporting (progress on core indicators). In addition to the quarterly reporting worksheet, each institution provides quarterly activity notes for each program funded through perkins. These will be held on file for audit purposes. No required format.
  • Final Report 

There are two parts to Perkins 1C Final Reporting

    1. Final Narrative Response for Accomplishments (will include similar questions to quarterly reporting, see above for worksheet).
      • NOTE: Chancellor's Office will likely release Final Report questions in July, 2025.
    2. Program Activity Outcomes: Each program/across program funded by Perkins 1C must complete a final Program Activity Outcomes worksheet.
