Logistics Specialist "A" School

Purpose

SDCC provides Navy enlisted personnel the knowledge and skill sets to demonstrate an understanding of supply systems, postal systems, and provide adequate customer service relations.

Scope

Students develop skill sets in a computer based, self-paced, hands-on laboratory training environment, with instructor guidance and in small groups. Students learn: Customer Service, Naval Supply Organization, Supply Security, Files Management, Material Identification, Material Procurement, Requisition Status, Material Receipt, Stowage, Hazardous Material, Basic Inventory Management Afloat and ashore, Material Control, Aviation Support, Naval Tactical Command Support, U.S. Postal Operations and Regulations, customer service relations, storeroom maintenance and management. Instruction includes Audio visual materials, practical and classroom exercises, discussion, and learner presentation.

Personnel Specialist "A" School

Purpose

SDCC provides Navy enlisted personnel the knowledge and skill sets to perform duties in a Personnel Office or Disbursing Office aboard a ship or a Personnel Support Activity ashore. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to effectively perform as an Apprentice Personnel Specialist.

Scope

Students develop skill sets in a computer based, self-paced, hands-on laboratory training environment, with instructor guidance and in small groups. Students learn: Pay and Personnel References, Service Record Maintenance, Pay and Allowances, Pay Transactions, Computing Taxes, Personnel Transactions, Permanent Change of Station Travel Processing, Reenlistments, Extensions, Creditable Service, and Separations.

Yeoman "A" School

Purpose

SDCC provides Navy enlisted personnel the knowledge and skill sets to perform the duties of a Yeoman in an Administration Office, Captain's Office, or Executive Officer's office aboard a ship or shore station. Students may receive further training to perform duties aboard a submarine or Security Group commands. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to prepare naval correspondence and use associated computer software to complete various military documents.

Scope

Students develop skill sets in a computer based, self-paced, hands-on laboratory training environment, with instructor guidance and in small groups. Students learn: Word Processing, Naval Administrative References, Naval Correspondence References, Naval Correspondence, Processing Standard Naval Letters, Files Management, Information Security, Personnel Security, Sensitive Compartmented Information, Service Record Maintenance, Permanent Change of Station Travel Processing, Personal Awards, Performance Evaluation and Counseling, Uniformed Services ID Card/DEERS Enrollments, and Leave Request and Authorization. Instruction includes practical exercises in the above topics.

Yeoman "C" School

Purpose

SDCC provides senior Navy enlisted Yeoman the knowledge and skill sets to perform the duties of a Flag Writer on a Navy admiral's staff. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to work independently in an office setting, and use associated computer software in creating and maintaining clerical documents.

Scope

In an instructor led group-paced environment students learn: Usage of the English Language, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, Official and Social Correspondence, Preparation of Briefings, Presentation of Admiral and Staff Briefings, Social Protocol, Scheduling, Ethics, Legal Responsibilities, Cursive Handwriting for Invitations, Place Cards, Menu Cards, Honors and Ceremonies, Fitness Reports, Official Funds for Social Events, Conference Calls, and associated computer software in creating and maintaining clerical documents. Instruction includes audio-visual materials, practical, and classroom exercises.
