Chancellor's Cabinet Report 09-15-26

Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

City College:

1. “A” Building Expansion: Design review meetings with the facilities team were held on Sep. 8 and 10, along with an architectural review meeting on Sep. 9.
2. Early Education Shade Structure: The 90% Construction Documents (CD) were submitted to the district architect for review on Sep. 9.

Mesa College:

1. Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure: The 100% Schematic Design (SD) cost estimate was received from Kitchell Estimating on Sep. 8. Design Development (DD) workshops with the Recording Studio Control Room, Sound Stage and Administration groups were held on Sep. 9 and 11.
2. Athletics Complex: DD focus group meetings with the Operations team were held on Sep. 9 and 10. Meetings with the Design-Build Entity (DBE), district design team, and geotechnical engineers were held on Sep. 11 to continue coordinating shoring and structural design considerations.
3. Design Center Improvements: Pre-bid conferences and site walks were held on Sep. 10 and 11.

Miramar College:

1. Early Education Center: The campus reviewed and approved the first phase of the final construction logistics plan and the project sign. The DBE constructed and installed the project sign during the week of Sep. 7.
2. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE submitted the 50% DD deliverable on Sep. 8 and hosted a DD meeting with campus stakeholders on Sep. 10.
3. Aquatic Center Pool Center Deck Replacement and Replaster: District review comments on the 90% CD package were submitted on Sep. 11.
4. Fire Alarm & Intrusion Alarm System Replacement: The Division of the State Architect (DSA) package was submitted on Sep. 11.

College of Continuing Education:

1. Lighting Inverters (multiple buildings): A pre-job walk conference was held on Sep. 8.
2. West City Expansion: A Clothing and Textiles focus group meeting was held on Sep. 9.
3. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Theatre Renovation: A tour with the Bond Workforce Education team was held on Sep. 9.
4. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: An exterior building envelope presentation to the Executive President’s Cabinet (EPC) was held on Sep. 8, followed by a Nursing focus group design meeting on Sep. 9.
5. ECC New Facilities Building: A stakeholder kickoff meeting was held on Sep. 9.

Other District Locations:

1. Childcare Center (Next to Harry West Gym): A coordination meeting with the design team was held on Sep. 8.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

City College:

1. “A” Building Expansion: A DD review workshop with the college president and Executive Review Committee is scheduled for Sep. 17.

Mesa College:

1. Athletics Complex: DD focus group meetings for the East Stadium/Throw Park and Athletic Training groups are scheduled for Sep. 14.
2. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: DD workshops are scheduled for the Dance Dressing Rooms/Changing Areas on Sep. 14, Recital Hall on Sep. 15 and Black Box on Sep. 16. The 100% SD cost estimate remains under review by the district and DBE.
3. Design Center Improvements: Requests for Information (RFIs) are due to the district on Sep. 18.

Miramar College:

1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The campus will review revised exterior rendering options and the gender-neutral restroom exhibit during the week of Sep. 14.
2. Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE will continue development of the 50% CD deliverable and host a DD meeting with campus stakeholders on Sep. 15.
3. Aquatic Center Solar Panel System Update: A planning coordination meeting is underway, with a site meeting anticipated in mid-September.
4. Early Education Center: The DBE will host a DD meeting with campus stakeholders on Sep. 16. The campus and stakeholders will also meet on Sep. 16 to plan for the groundbreaking ceremony.
5. Central Plant Utility Upgrade: MA Engineers anticipates submitting the preliminary central plant report to the district for review by Sep. 18.

College of Continuing Education:

1. ECC Welding: A mechanical, electrical, and plumbing discussion with district facilities is scheduled for Sep. 15.
2. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A SD meeting with stakeholders is scheduled for Sep. 15, followed by a Campus Security and Parking focus group meeting on Sep. 16, and a Culinary Arts focus group meeting on Sep. 18.

Key Items of Interest

1. Citizen’s Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC): The CBOC will hold its quarterly meeting on Sep. 14 and receive updates on Measure HH projects. The committee will also tour the Affordable Student Housing construction site.

Miramar College:

1. Microgrid Feasibility Study & Linear Generator: Electrical load recorders were installed on building transformers in early September. Removal began on Sept. 9 and will continue through Sept. 17, with all recorders scheduled to be removed by Sept. 28.
2. Live Fire Training Prop Replacement: A site scope planning meeting with the campus, Fire Academy chief, and vendor is scheduled for Sept. 17 to review the scope of work and vendor proposal.
