Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
- ECC Theater – Abatement and Demolition is nearing substantial completion; building pad grading is complete and is scheduled to receive certification. (CCE)
- DBE Programming efforts – 12 end user meetings/site walks occurred for the Sports & Kinesiology Sciences and Performing Arts Center projects. (Mesa)
- Harry West Gym conceptual mechanical and architectural design has been provided for review informed by the building assessment studies that were conducted. (City)
- Campus Leadership Monthly Meetings were conducted. (City and CCE)
- The domestic water backflow was replaced on Oct. 4. (District Office)
- The final DBE contract was executed for the large Design Build projects in Region 2. (General)
- Design Programming focus meetings and workshops continued for all projects at Mesa and Miramar Colleges. (General)
- The DBE team toured existing Performing Arts facilities. (Mesa)
- Civil and utility survey and topo complete at City Outdoor Athletics Expansion and Upgrades project. (City)
- Design programming meeting held with DBE DPR and stakeholders for the West City Expansion. (CCE)
Coming Week Look-Ahead:
- DBE Programming efforts – ten end user meetings are scheduled and will continue for the Sports & Kinesiology Sciences and Performing Arts Center projects. (Mesa)
- DBE Programming efforts – Team Intro and Project Kick-off meetings have been scheduled for both the Saville Theater and Building A Expansion. (City)
- ECC Theater: Site Security/Access system should be implemented and fully operational; new building foundations and underground utilities will begin. (CCE)
- Soccer Field Replacement proposal is expected to be on the October Board. (City)
- Design Programming focus meetings and workshops continued for all projects at Mesa and Miramar Colleges. (Mesa and Miramar)
- Meet with architect PBK for Mid-City Planning and tour of nursing at Cesar Chavez Facility. (CCE)
- Kick off meeting with leadership for A Building Expansion at City.
Key Items of Interest:
- ECC Theater – CCE President’s Advisory Committee Construction Tour occurred on Oct. 2. Overall, it was well-received and positive. (CCE)
- ECC Theater – Pantry program in temporary trailer was requested to be re-located from parking lot to south lawn area by main building to enhance accommodations and to better serve the needs of the students and community. (CCE)
- Ongoing construction at ECC Theatre renovation project. (CCE)
- Facilities, Health, and Safety Committee Kick-Off Meeting. (Miramar)
- Monthly Capital Renovation and Renewal and Site Improvements Meetings – Miramar College, Mesa College, City College, College of Continuing Education.
- Spirit of Mesa event happened on Oct. 10 where Kitchell attended as one of the sponsors as well as the DBEs on both Mesa projects.
- Miramar College “Invest in Success” fundraiser scheduled for Oct. 16 where Kitchell will also attend and co-sponsor.
- Received signed contract from DBE Rudolph & Sletten for City A Building Expansion. (City)
Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):
- ECC Theater – Coordination has begun with campus leadership to address lack of restroom facilities for staff and students during construction. (CCE)
- Need design approval of new ceramics building by President King. (CCE)
- Need final decision on Head Start spaces program for inclusion in the ECC Community Room project by President King. (CCE)
