Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion Design-Build Entity (DBE) final programming workshop and Winter Wonderland participation.
- Outdoor Athletics Expansion & Upgrades Owner/Architect (OA) held programming meeting.
- Outdoor Athletics Expansion & Upgrades equipment inventory conducted.
- Saville Theatre Replacement design safari tour of Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in La Jolla, conducted on Dec. 12.
- The renovation work for the Harry West Gym Greenhouse has been completed and is now in the closeout phase.
- Roof repair for the Arts and Humanities building has been completed and is now in the closeout phase.
- New project added – Building M Backflow Valve Replacement. The project involves removing the existing 3” backflow prevention assembly and installing a new State of California–approved, lead-free unit. The contractor will also service the existing strainer, add a blow-down valve, and perform all required testing to ensure proper operation and compliance.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure – DBE, PMO, district design team, and campus stakeholders completed additional programming workshops with administration and dance groups. A successful and well attended student engagement workshop was held on campus on Dec. 9, featuring the design team and performing arts students. PMO, DBE, and campus stakeholders continued to refine, validate, and optimize program scope and requirements to finalize the budget augmentation request.
- Athletics Complex – DBE, PMO, district design team, and campus stakeholders held an additional Programming Workshop to finalize Throws Program (javelin, discus, shot put, hammer) site location and gymnasium configuration. An initial concept design meeting was held with campus stakeholders, DBE, PMO, and district design team. PMO, DBE, and campus stakeholders continued to refine, validate, and optimize the program scope and requirements to finalize the budget augmentation request.
- Design Center Improvements – Biweekly design team meeting was held with PMO, district design team and campus stakeholders to discuss design development phase progress.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center – The design team received the program deliverable document.
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project – The design team reviewed preliminary cost estimates internally for accuracy.
- Early Education Center – The design team met internally to discuss cost implications for the additional project request form.
College of Continuing Education:
- CE West City Expansion program meeting with CCE leadership to determine final program parameters.
- CE Mid-City Expansion program meeting with CCE leadership to discuss desired program options.
- CE Mid-City Expansion programming meeting with stakeholders.
- ECC Building Trades Training Center (Welding) design kickoff meeting held.
- Welding Shop Roll-up Door – Vinyard Door (contractor) completed the installation of the roll-up door and the project is currently in the closeout phase.
- ECC Community Room / Ceramics design check-in held.

City College:
- “A” Building Expansion DBE and City College leadership check-in.
- Saville Theatre Replacement design programming meeting scheduled with stakeholders.
- Construction kickoff was held for the Career Center Room 301 renovation, with construction scheduled to begin Dec. 22.
- Garfield Parking Garage elevator will be repaired using a cooperative agreement with Omnia to award a contract to 24 Hour Elevator. Board consideration is scheduled for Dec. 18.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure – DBE, PMO, district design team, and campus stakeholders continue programming workshops with dance group. Campus leadership and PMO to finalize details of budget augmentation request.
- Athletics Complex – DBE to hold second concept design workshop with PMO, district design team, and campus stakeholders to present and further develop program and criteria for the project. Meet with campus leadership to discuss budget augmentation request and process.
- Design Center Improvements – Architect, landscape subcontractor, PMO, and district facilities team to conduct irrigation system test and assessment.
Miramar College:
- Building C-1 elevator will be repaired using a cooperative agreement with Omnia, to award a contract to 24 Hour Elevator. Board consideration is scheduled for Dec. 18.
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center – The design team will review the program deliverable for the recommended program design and issue comments to the DBE. The design team will arrange schematic design meetings with stakeholders.
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project – The design team will continue to work with the DBE to develop the program deliverable and cost estimate for the recommended program design.
- Early Education Center – Receive direction from the district on inclusion of the additional classroom structure in the design.
College of Continuing Education:
- ECC Theatre Renovation weekly OAC and change order review meeting scheduled.
- CE West City Expansion programming meeting scheduled with stakeholders.
Other District Locations:
- South Roof Repair Project – Addendum #1 was issued, addressing all pre-bid Requests for Information (RFIs). Bids closed on Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. through PlanetBids, with 10 submissions received. A. Preman Roofing is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Board consideration is scheduled for Dec. 18. (District Service Center Office)
- Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system buyout from both Clean Capital and Forefront Power (nine PV systems locations at college sites) negotiations ongoing. Likely to bring to BOT in January 2026.
Key Items of Interest:
- Ongoing scope alignment coordination and discussion for Mesa and Miramar projects to ensure consistent program delivery.
Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):
- Early Education Center – The design team seeks to receive direction from the district on the inclusion of the additional classroom structure in the design, which is pending program submission and additional funding request submission and approval. The schematic design phase start has pushed to Dec. 26 (originally scheduled to start on Nov. 25) and may continue to shift. (Miramar)
