Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. Harry West Gym design service proposal with JWDA for revisions.
  1. Outdoor Athletics Expansion and Upgrades project design service Notice to Proceed (NTP) has been sent to DLR, and weekly design check-in meetings have been scheduled.
  1. Bldg. ‘V’ HVAC and Boiler Replacement – Bender Dean’s proposal has been returned to them with comments.
  1. Saville Theater – The first design workshop occurred on Oct. 31, with subsequent seminars scheduled for the next several weeks.
  1. ‘A’ Building Expansion planning and strategy meeting was held along with the Design Kickoff meeting, including college leadership and nearly 100 stakeholders.
  1. Submitted board action item: Harry West Gym Fencing.
  1. Submitted board action item: Soccer Field Turf Replacement.
  1. Submitted board action item: Garfield Parking Garage Elevator.
  1. Learning Resource Center air handling unit and boiler replacement construction kickoff meeting.

Mesa College:

  1. Athletics – First round of workshop meetings has been completed. Discussion and meetings have been held with campus leadership to strategize the best direction forward regarding scope, scale, and budget.
  1. Performing Arts Center – First round of workshops completed, and the team is awaiting the recap/progress report from the DBE to memorialize these efforts.
  1. The ‘Z’ Bldg. Design Service proposal is being routed for signatures, with a design kickoff scheduled for early to mid-November.
  1. Conducted and completed Programming Workshop #2 (Performing Arts Center/Parking Structure and Admin, Sport & Kinesiology Sciences), including breakout sessions with all stakeholder departments, to further refine and develop the final program.
  1. Submitted board action item: Gym Floor Replacement.
  1. Submitted board action item: LRC Elevator.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Planned site walks with stakeholders for the Performing Arts Center project held at UCSD and Miramar College.
  1. A coordination meeting was held with the City Airport agency regarding the Montgomery Aviation permit and lease agreement.
  1. Submitted board action item: Building C1 Elevator.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. ECC Theater – Rough grading is substantially complete, and pad certification has been provided. Footing excavation has begun, with rebar to start late next week.
  1. Design programming focus meetings and workshops continued for the West City and Mid-City expansion projects.
  1. Completed Mid-City Expansion project ALTA survey.
  1. Received direction from college leadership on the usage of Head Start spaces adjacent to the ECC Community Room.
  1. Received direction from college leadership on expanding the scope of the Building Trades Training Center (Welding) project.

  1. Fair market value analysis under review for Solar PV Buy-outs (Multiple Sites).

Miramar College:

  1. Continued design programming focus meetings and workshops for projects at Miramar College: Early Childhood Education Center, Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center, Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building.
  1. A coordination meeting to be held with the City Airport agency regarding the CEQA permit and environmental concerns.
  1. Proposal request for Elevator repair at C-1 building.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. College of Continuing Education Mesa Campus Building Envelope Improvements proposal for Design Services from Architects Mosher Drew received and is under review.
  1. Building Trades Training Center (Welding) project updated proposal expected from Delawie based on the new direction to expand the program.

Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):

  1. Need confirmation on Swing Space preference for the Welding Renovation project by President King by the end of October to maintain the schedule and minimize potential instructional impacts. (CCE)
  1. Need confirmation from OESF on what budgets are available for the Mid-City Expansion and Mid-City Renovation projects. Both projects are listed as ‘Funding Pending’ in the Master Program. With projects being actively programmed, direction is needed by the end of November so we can program the spaces correctly. (CCE)
