Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- Design programming focus meetings, workshops and a site-walk with the demolition contractor were held for the Saville Theatre replacement project.
- “A” Building Expansion team held its weekly design and programming huddle and conducted a “Design Safari” taking 38 stakeholders on tours of student unions and student services buildings at Southwestern College, Cuyamaca College, and Mesa College.
- Programming workshops were held for the Outdoor Athletics Expansion and Upgrades project.
- The PMO team presented a City College Measure HH projects update to the City College Council on Nov. 18.
- The contractor for the Affordable Student Housing development mobilized on Nov. 20 at 1601 B Street.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure – Programming workshops continued with stakeholders to further develop program requirements, including disability support programs and services, landscape and grounds, and program faculty. Student engagement workshops were rescheduled for the week of Dec. 8–12 due to weather conflicts.
- Athletics Complex – Program-specific rough order-of-magnitude (ROM) cost estimates were presented to the athletics dean to assist in prioritization needs while refining scope and budget. Additional programming workshops were scheduled with stakeholders to continue developing the scope and identifying potential program and space efficiencies.
- Design Center Improvements – Biweekly owner, architect, and contractor (OAC) meetings were scheduled, and initial schematic design site walk was conducted.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center – Direction was issued to the design-build entity (DBE) to move the project into the schematic design phase, adjusting the scope to align with the recommended program, including a new flight tower and en route air traffic control programs.
- Performing Arts Center (PAC) & English/Gallery Project – Project and campus leadership met to assist in aligning the user-requested offices and classrooms with campus needs.
- Early Education Center – Direction was issued to the DBE to move the project into the schematic design phase, and to adjust the scope to align with the recommended program design. A request for additional general education classrooms is under review.
College of Continuing Education:
- CCE Executive Cabinet Meeting held with Dr. King and leadership to discuss concept options for the CCE West City Expansion.
- ECC Ceramics finishes meeting scheduled with the president’s cabinet on Nov. 18.
- Mid-City Expansion property acquisition closed escrow on Nov. 19, and keys, codes, and related items were received on Nov. 21.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion Food Service and bookstore program review is scheduled for Nov. 24.
- “A” Building Expansion DBE & PMO weekly huddle on Nov. 25.
- Outdoor Athletics Expansion programming meeting is scheduled for Nov. 24.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure – Complete the third round of programming workshops with administration teams. Meet with DBE to review and reconcile the current estimate summary. Begin utility location and mark-out process.
- Athletics Complex – Review the needs prioritization process and results with DBE to further develop the package for the budget augmentation request. Conduct aerial mapping of the project site.
- Design Center Improvements – Finalize the budget of record for the recommended program design. Arranging schematic design meetings with stakeholders. Continue working with campus leadership to determine the future of the additional scope request that was not included in the recommended program design.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center – Finalize the budget of record for the recommended program design. Arrange schematic design meetings with stakeholders.
- Performing Arts Center (PAC) & English/Gallery Project – The program concept meeting was rescheduled to Nov. 21 with a focus on understanding spatial relationships between spaces.
- Early Education Center – Finalize the program document.
College of Continuing Education:
- CCE West City Expansion programming meeting scheduled for Dec. 1.
- ECC Theatre Expansion weekly Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meeting scheduled for Nov. 25.

Key Items of Interest:
- A “Fill the Bin” event was held on Nov. 18 at Gafcon offices to raise funds and collect clothing donations for the four college foundations.
- Ongoing scope alignment coordination and discussions are underway for the Mesa and Miramar projects to ensure consistent program delivery.
- Vice Chancellor Peterson, Region 1 PMO Director Brian Browning, and Region 3 Executive Vice President Anthony Sanchez spoke at a Lambda Alpha International luncheon on Nov. 18.
Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):
- Confirmation is needed from President King on the preferred swing space for the Welding Renovation project by Dec. 19 to maintain schedule and minimize potential instructional impacts. (CCE)
- CE Banner Project – Begin processing to secure the college banners with Continuing Education, pending approval of the HH funding request. Review design elements for the signage structural posts. (Continuing Education)
