Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- Design Programming focus meetings and workshops continued for the Saville Theatre Replacement.
- “A” Building Expansion design/programming stakeholder workshop meeting held with college leadership and nearly 100 stakeholders.
- Guided site tours for buildings “A”, “D” and “T” held on Nov. 11 with the Design/Build Entity (DBE) as part of the “A” Building Expansion Project.
- Outdoor Athletics stakeholder kickoff meeting held on Nov. 13.
- Arts and Humanities Roof Repair preconstruction kickoff meeting held on Nov. 10.
- Garfield Parking Garage Elevator contracts team is reviewing Omnia contract to confirm if team can contract with 24-Hour Elevator directly for repair work. Board action item submitted.
- Submitted board action item for Science Building – AHU1A/1B HW Coil Replacement.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure – Coordinated with stakeholders to schedule Programming Meeting #3 for each element for Nov. 19, Nov. 20, and Nov. 21. Coordinated and scheduled two Student/Community Engagement Workshops for Nov. 18 and Nov. 19, aligning with other on-campus events to maximize student and community participation.
- Athletics Complex – Met with the DBE to refine overall budgets in support of ongoing discussions regarding the Athletics Complex scope of work. Continued coordination with stakeholders to review the programming scope and identify potential program and space efficiencies. Met with faculty to explain the new board-approved process for requesting additional project funding.
- Design Center Improvements – A project kickoff meeting was held on Nov. 13. The project scope was reviewed with the architect and campus stakeholders.
- Child Development Center Roof Repair preconstruction kickoff meeting was held on Nov. 10.
- Submitted board action item for Shot Put / Discuss Turf Renovation.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center – PMO team met with the Helix Environmental Planning team to determine the project’s California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) needs.
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project – Engaged in a Visual Arts focused program meeting. Met with campus leadership to assist in aligning the user-requested offices and classrooms with the campus needs.
- Early Education Center – Met with campus leadership to assist in aligning the user-requested offices and classrooms with the campus needs.
- The contracts team is evaluating the Omnia contract to verify whether a direct contract with 24-Hour Elevator is permitted for the elevator repair at building C-1. Cumming Group has requested a line-item breakdown of 24-Hour Elevator’s proposals. A board action item has been submitted.
College of Continuing Education:
- Supplemental geo-technical investigations conducted on Nov. 14 for Ceramics Expansion and Renovation and Building Trades Training Center. (ECC)
- Internal coordination meeting held with the CCE West City DBE to look at potential space layouts and solutions based on stakeholder inputs. (CCE West City)

- Submitted board action item for Access Control (District-Wide).
- Submitted board action item for Bond Manager Technology Special Projects.
Coming Week Look-Ahead:
City College:
- Saville Theatre tour with the DBE demolition contractor scheduled for Nov. 20.
- Design programming meetings are scheduled for the Saville Theatre Replacement on Nov. 21.
- A “Design Safari” will tour the “A” Building Expansion stakeholders around three local community college Student Union/Services buildings on Nov. 21.
- Outdoor Athletics programming workshops are scheduled for Nov. 17 & Nov. 19.
- Soccer Field Turf Repair preconstruction kickoff meeting is scheduled for Nov. 18.
- Green House Demo, Landscaping, and Survey Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) contract issued for Jan. 5 – Feb. 15, a CUPCCAA contract to Telliard Construction for the slope stabilization work behind the Harry West Gym, proceeding with contract.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure – Will hold Programming Meeting #3 with the DBE, District, and Campus Stakeholders, including DSPS, Landscape & Grounds, Dramatic Arts/Scene, Costume/Shop/Film, Dance, World Art Gallery, Music, and Administration. Will also hold two Student/Community Engagement Workshops on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19.
- Athletics Complex – Meetings are planned with campus leadership and the athletics director to review the project’s Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) cost estimate and current scope status. A follow-up programming meeting will be scheduled with stakeholders to continue the programming process.
- Design Center Improvements – The team is continuing to review the scope of work with the architect and campus stakeholders.
- The Coil Condenser Building G contract has been issued to ACCO Engineering Systems. Three of the four coils have been installed; the fourth was damaged. Installation is expected to take approximately three days, with construction anticipated to resume during the Thanksgiving break.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center – The program document is being finalized along with budget modifications being reviewed.
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project – Program concept meeting to be held on Nov. 21, with a focus on spatial relationships with the various Tier 2 options.
- Early Education Center – The program document is currently being finalized.
College of Continuing Education:
- A Mesa Culinary Arts Program collaborative discussion is scheduled with CCE West City stakeholders on Nov. 17.
- A CCE Executive Cabinet Meeting discussion regarding the CCE West City Expansion program is scheduled for Nov. 20.
- A ECC Ceramics finishes meeting is scheduled with the President’s Cabinet on Nov. 18.
- Welding Shop Roll-up Door Replacement Contract issued for Vinyard Doors for replacement of roll-up door. Notice to Proceed (NTP) is Nov. 10 and this is a 30-day contract.
Other District Locations:
- To address the lack of gender-inclusive facilities at the District Office, the 3rd-floor men’s restroom will be converted into a single-user, gender-inclusive restroom. This cost-effective project requires only signage updates and installation of a door lock, with no changes to the existing layout. The NTP is expected to be issued by Nov. 18. Coordination is underway for a district-wide announcement, and signage meeting DSA and ADA standards has been ordered, expected to arrive around Nov. 21.
Key Items of Interest:
- Ongoing scope alignment coordination and discussions are taking place for projects to ensure consistent program delivery. (Mesa and Miramar)
- Vice Chancellor Peterson and two PMO Directors will be part of a panel discussion for the Lambda Alpha International group on Nov. 18.
- Bond Program Executive Project Review Committee – At the Nov. 13 Board Meeting, the Board established a new committee to meet when requests are made to modify the thresholds for Measure HH funding requests, reflecting adjustments related to the addition of new projects or requested changes in scope or budget.
Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):
- Early Education Center – The team is finalizing the program document and needs campus direction to validate the user-requested offices and classrooms. A decision is needed by end-of-day Nov. 14 to avoid further deviation from the schedule. (Miramar)

- Banner Project – Leadership at Continuing Education has made a request for potential Measure HH funding to secure new college banners and accompanying structural signage posts. The request is currently being evaluated. (CE)
