Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- Harry West Gym – JWDA design service proposal is being finalized and will be submitted for authorization/signature routing.
- Athletic Fields Project design service proposal from DLR Architects is being finalized and is being submitted for authorization/signature routing. Coordination efforts are underway to align the current field replacement project with the future design scope.
- Saville Theater kick-off meeting was held at the college and was well-attended. Weekly design meetings will begin Oct. 31 with the goal to be finished with programming in January 2026.
- Mathematics / Social Science & Career Tech Parking Structure Gate Replacement construction kick-off.
- Room 301 Career Center Tenant Improvement construction kick-off.
- Design Kickoff meeting held with VPAS, VPI and stakeholders for the Saville Theatre Replacement project.
- A Building Expansion planning and strategy meeting held with Rudolph & Sletten / Gensler Team (DBE).
- City College Outdoor Athletics Expansion & Upgrades proposal from DLR Group for Design Services analyzed and was recommended for NTP issuance.
Mesa College:
- Mesa DBE Programming efforts – the first round of workshop meetings for the Sports & Kinesiology Sciences and Performing Arts Center projects have been concluded by the Architecture firms. Reports are being provided by each DBE to memorialize these initial programming efforts.
- Bldg. ‘Z’ Design Service proposal from OBR Architects is being finalized and is being submitted for authorization/signature routing.
- Design programming focus meetings and workshops continued for all projects at Mesa College.
Miramar College:
- Design programming focus meetings and workshops continued for all projects at Miramar College.
- Coordination meeting held with the City Airport agency regarding the Montgomery Aviation permit and lease agreement.
College of Continuing Education:
- ECC Theater – Site Security/Access system is fully installed and operational.
- Design Programming focus meetings and workshops continued for the West City and Mid-City Expansion Projects.
- Processed NTP for Mid-City Expansion Project American Land Title Assoc. (ALTA) survey and issued Amendment to extend closing date to accommodate the survey.
- Gafcon received revised programmatic estimates for the ECC Welding Renovation project to review the three options proposed on the east canopy redesign based on feedback received from the Vice Chancellor.

City College:
- Bldg. ‘A’ Expansion – Project Kickoff meeting with college is scheduled for Oct. 31 with 40 attendees anticipated.

- Learning Resource Center Air Handling Unit and Boiler Replacement construction kickoff.
- City College A Building Expansion Design Kickoff meeting will be held with president, vice presidents and nearly 100 stakeholders.
- City College Harry West Gym revised proposal from JWDA for design services expected next week based on direction received from the college president.
- Design Programming focus meetings and workshops will continue for City College Saville Theatre Replacement.

Mesa College:
- PAC – Round 2 of Workshop will begin next week with five meetings scheduled with the end users.
- Continued design programming focus meetings and workshops for all projects at Mesa College: Sports and Kinesiology, Performing Arts Center, Parking Structure & Administration.
- Submitted board action item Gym Floor Replacement.
- Submitted board action item LRC Elevator.
Miramar College:
- Continued design programming focus meetings and workshops for projects at Miramar College: Early Childhood Education Center, Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center, Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building.
- Planned site walks with stakeholders for the Performing Arts Center project to be held at UCSD and Miramar College.
- Submitted board action item Building C1 Elevator.
College of Continuing Education:
- College of Continuing Education Mesa Campus Building Envelope Improvements proposal for Design Services from Architects Mosher Drew expected next week.
- Design Programming focus meetings and workshops will continue for CCE West City and CCE Mid-City.
Other District Locations:
- San Diego State University joint project under assessment (San Diego State University – Mission Valley Campus).
- Fair Market Value Analysis being reviewed for Solar PV Buy-outs (Multiple Sites).
Key Items of Interest:
- Ongoing scope alignment coordination & discussion for Mesa and Miramar projects to ensure consistent program delivery.
- Planning study workshops scheduled (District Office 3375 & District Service Center).
- Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing assessment (1450 Frazee).
- PCL, who is the CM for the ECC Theatre Renovation project, hired an intern who is a student at ECC and an immigrant from Afghanistan. (CCE)
Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):
- Proposals received for Police Academy MAT room and AC replacement project to be discussed with the district and college executive team. (Miramar)
- President King and EPC need to decide by mid-November how the Head Start spaces adjacent to the ECC Community Room will be utilized. There is currently not enough space to accommodate all the requested occupants/functions. (CCE)
- Need confirmation on Swing Space preference for the Welding Renovation project by President King by the end of October to maintain schedule and minimize potential instructional impacts. (CCE)
- Once the programmatic estimates for the ECC Welding Renovation project are reviewed with the Vice Chancellor, design approval by President King is needed as soon as possible as the project is on hold until direction is received. (CCE)
